Piazza Peretti, 63066, Grottammare AP, Riviera delle Palme, Marches, Italy
On December 13, 2021, the celebrations for the fifth centenary of the birth of Felice Peretti will begin. The celebrations will begin on December 13, 2021 and will end on December 13, 2022. They have been conceived as "a great scenic representation of the Sistine epic, and will therefore be the life of the great Pontiff in fixing its main stages". In 1585, at the death of Gregory XIII, he was elected Pope with the name of Sixtus V. His activity was very rich during the five years of the pontificate. San Giovanni Battista Church Grottammare, Piazza Peretti, 63066 Grottammare AP, Marches, Italy.  The church has a sober and rigorous facade, both for its architectural style and for its construction material. The fa├žade is concluded by a triangular tympanum and presents the traditional band order, highlighted by a molded frame and slightly projecting pilasters that climb up to the pediment and that divide the facade into three parts. The church houses the Sistino Museum of Grottammare, one of the sites of the network of the Sistini Museums of the Piceno. The museum contains paintings, furnishings, ecclesiastical furnishings and paper works, especially from the churches of Grottammare. Among the exhibited works, we can remember a Sacred Conversation by Vincenzo Pagani (Monterubbiano 149…

Piazza Peretti, Grottammare Alta, Grottammare, Riviera delle Palme, Province of Ascoli Piceno, AP, Marches, Italy Felice Piergentile Peretti was born in Grottammare, a small fishing village in the southern Marche, then in the jurisdiction of Fermo As Pope, he energetically rooted out corruption and lawlessness across Rome and launched a far-sighted rebuilding program that continues to provoke controversy, as it involved the destruction of antiquities. Another curiosity that links Sixtus V to the Roman "vulgate": with his tax reform, not trusting the local officials, the pope recruited his trusted fellow-countrymen from the Marche to exercise the profession of the collector.
