The Marches is an Italian region in central Italy.

Image
The Marches is an Italian region in central Italy. Surprising and wonderful in its diversity, this region of Central Italy, with its winding yet symmetrical form, shows off its multi-faceted beauty through cliffs and caves that overlook unforgettable beaches, hills that are steeped in history, and rich traditions and cultures, all set against a backdrop of mountains (that are, by the way, well-equipped for ski lovers). The Marches are mostly comprised of hills and mountains; the region embraces the Adriatic side of the Umbria-Marche Appennines, yet in contrast features low-lying, sandy beaches. How could anyone forget the long expanse of fine golden sand that kiss crystal-clear waters at Senigallia Offering numerous lidos and pleasant seaside strolls, this area is a treat any time of day, but especially at sunset. No less lovely are Gabicce Mare, Pesaro, Fano, Civitanova Marche, Porto San Giorgio, and San Benedetto del Tronto. If you’re looking to unwind and recharge, visit one of th…

Moresco, The Marches, Italy.

Image
Via Martino Celi, 1, 63826 Moresco, FM, Italy, Moresco, The Marches, Italy In Italy, in all the main squares the clock tower rises high. Sometimes even more than one, in Moresco in the province of Fermano it is also on one of the entrances. Initially medieval constructions, later changed or better improved in the Renaissance, have thus adapted these towers to the existing buildings, visible from very far and sometimes higher than the cathedral of the country.

Promenade of Porto Recanati Riviera del Conero

Image
Porto Recanati, The Marches, Italy. Piazza delle Vele, Viale 29 marzo, Viale della Montecatini, 34, 62017 Porto Recanati MC, Italy. Summer is late in coming, it has not rained almost all winter, so the important thing is that it rains in May, then this summer so much will come, we are ready. That is I am ready, I can't wait to melt in the sea, feel the saltiness and continue to dive into the sea, swim, swim to the point of exhaustion, sunbathe and enjoy the beach until sunset. From here, Porto Recanati in fact, we see the Monte Conero, a promontory on the sea unique for its landscapes, and in summer it is a spectacle. Promenade Porto Recanati The Marches Italy Copyright “All rights reserved” © By itravelinitaly.com travelers from Italy Baldassarri Giuseppe Visual Storytelling.

On that day I met the usual dog, I do not know what it's called, goes around free with his master, can do it because there is only the railway, the walk, and the sea, desolate comes to meet me sniffs the holidays and if it goes, when I took the picture he sat up. You say, why did not you take a picture.

Fermo - Torre di Palme, The suggestive center of Torre di Palme is a fantastic panoramic balcony on the top of a hill overlooking the coast and the Adriatic sea. The village belongs to the circle of Fermani castles subdivided, depending on their location, into marine, middle and mountain: the marine ones rise on the top of the hills and generally have an ellipsoid urban structure (with east-west axis) surrounded by walls that they open with "da Sole" or "da Bora" doors.  Torre di Palme stands out for the preservation of its environment and for the stylistic uniformity of medieval and Renaissance buildings, elements that make it, despite its small size, one of the most interesting historical centers …

The balcony of the Marches region, the hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea, here is Torre di Palme, a fraction of the Fermo comune. A unique landscape, to the east the Adriatic Sea, to the west the rolling hills of the Marches region, at the end the Magic Sibillini Mountains, an enchanting scenery, the village full of disjointed alleys and steep slopes, a small town but a great charm for enchanting photographs.

Cupra Marittima Village Borgo Marano

Image
Castrum Maranum, The old, medieval, incised Marano on the hill constitutes the main nucleus of the village, while it is in the second half of the nineteenth century that, further down, the seaside village takes shape; there are also archaeological sites that refer to the Piceny civilization (VIII-VII century BC) that the human settlements become more intense, as evidenced by the numerous necropolis in the Castelletta district, rich in grave goods. Defeated the Picenes (268 BC), Cupra Marittima became a Roman colony and the ager cuprensis was identified with the Regio V Picenum famous for the production of oil, olives and maritime trade with its large port located to the north of the current country. In this area there were warehouses, the moorings of ships and amphorae that were used for the transport of wheat and oil came to light. With the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the barbarians broke out: Cupra was sacked many times and underwent the domination of Byzantines, Longobards, a…

Genius Loci

Image
The sense of beauty and the spirit that enlivens every place inhabited by man as guides for a fuller and more meaningful existence. Places have a soul. Our job is to find out. Exactly as it happens for the human person. " (James Hillman - The Soul of Places).
"What does it mean that places have a soul?" Have you ever had that feeling, upon entering a place (a city, a museum, a landscape), of being able to feel vividly as a sort of distinctive mark of that place, specific psychic energy characterizing that particular place? The ancient Romans, this energy, called it Genius Loci (the genius of the place). Last shots and stories for The Soul of Places in Italy, continue here.

Vitali Palace in Petritoli

Image
63848 Petritoli, Province of Fermo, FM, The Marches, Italy.Vitali Palace in Petritoli at the end of the main street of Petritoli is the nineteenth-century palazzo in the flowery Gothic-Venetian style. The style follows the decorative of the mullioned windows and summit pinnacles, typical of the lagoon city. Inside there are fine neo-classical frescoed ceilings, while outside there is a fine example of a 14th-century Gothic brick arch. Petritoli is a hilly municipality in the province of Fermo that dominates the green and fertile Aso valley, of which it represents an important economic center for the rich land of olive trees, mulberry trees and hills. It offers a vast and splendid view that sweeps from the Sibillini Mountains to the Adriatic coast. Originally named, dating back to the year 1000, Rodolfo Castle was born from the merger of three castles: Petrosa, Petrania, and Petrollavia.

Pedaso rock lion head

Image
Pedaso rock lion head Italy, Lungomare dei cantautori del XX secolo, Marches, Pedaso, Province of Fermo. I don't miss fantasy, but it always seems, every time I walk along the promenade of the 20th-century singer-songwriters in Pedaso, to see a lion's head of rock emerging from the sea. Its coastline has natural rocks with the most different names given to them due to their appearance or their connection with ancient stories.

The facade of the Sanctuary of the Holy House in Loreto.

Image
Basilica della Santa Casa, Piazza della Madonna, 1, 60025 Loreto, AN, Marches, Italy.Bramante was asked for the project for the facade, but it was only carried out long after; the original design was much reworked in late Renaissance style by Francesco Boccalini, who in 1571 began the lower part up to the cornice; it was continued from here by Giovan Battista Chioldi and finished in 1587 by Lattanzio Ventura at the behest of Pope Sixtus V, whose name is written in the upper cornice. It is presented in white Istrian stone, vertically divided into three parts by four pairs of pillars, suggesting the three internal naves.

Sanctuary of the Holy House Loreto

Image
Location; Santuario della Santa Casa di Loreto, Piazza Della Madonna, 1, 60025 Loreto, AN, Marches, Italy. Santa Casa Inside is the Holy House of Nazareth, where, according to devotional tradition, the Virgin Mary received the Annunciation. Interior of the Holy House The "house of the Madonna" was formed by three walls leaning against a cave dug into the rock (which is located in the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth). According to popular tradition, on the night between 9 and 10 December 1294 the stones of the house of Nazareth were flown by angels. In fact, some studies and documents found confirmed that transport was by sea on crusader ships. In fact, after the expulsion of the Christians from the Holy Land by Muslims, an exponent of the Angeli family, rulers of Epirus, was interested in saving the Holy House from certain ruin, which was, therefore, transported first to Trsat, in today's Croatia, in 1291 and then in Loreto on 10 December 1294. Corso Garibaldi, 137, 63822 Porto San Giorgio, FM, Marches, Italy. The visits the oldest part of the city, towards the south, along Corso Castel San Giorgio, at the end of the street, crosses a large Gothic arch which, together with the other on the left, belonged to the ancient structure of the port. A pointed arch, proud and solitary guardian of the ancient port. Walking through the narrow alleys of the old town one breathes a soft sea air, with the memory among now vanished noises of ancient crafts the indelible traces of history are clearly distinguished.

The ceiling was frescoed by Sigismondo Nardi; of the work of the great Sangiorgese painter, today only the apse dome depicting the Madonna with child in her arms remains.

Italy: the most beautiful country in the world.
Italy: the most beautiful country in the world. We are in Italy and we know that we have one of the most visited countries in the world under our feet, a unique country, rich in history, culture, natural resources, and a consolidated artisan and gastronomic tradition. Yes an open-air museum, in every corner, in every street, in every small neighborhood hides a piece of history, tradition, and culture. If you can meet the expectations of tourists they will talk about it with relatives, friends, in blogs, share photos and comments on social media, encouraging you to visit the white beaches of Salento, to take a photo in front of the imposing Colosseum, to watch the view from a high altitude refuge in the Dolomites, to be lulled in the lagoon on a gondola in Venice, to taste a plate of freshly baked lasagna in a typical Emilian inn ... But there is more but much more. The Italian Small towns and Borghi villages that tourists should see, large and small, medieval and baroque, perched on high mountains or along coasts. The most beautiful villages along with the boot - worthy of being seen at least once in a lifetime - for the kitchen, the art, the landscape, the history . From Cornello dei Tasso, in the province of Bergamo, a medieval fairytale village where time seems to stand still in Scanno, in Abruzzo, a rural paradise . Up to Marettimo, in the Egadi, a refuge in all senses . Click here for a map.
