The Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari , Sestriere San Polo, 3072, 30125 Venice VE, Italy. Usually just called the Frari, is a church located in the Campo dei Frari at the heart of the San Polo district of Venice, Italy . One of the most prominent churches in the city, it has the status of a minor basilica. The church is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The basilica, with a Latin cross, is a classic example of the Gothic style, which we could define as "Franciscan" because, avoiding the glitz of spiers, pinnacles and flying buttresses, it emphasizes the harmony, beauty and simplicity of the lines. The grandiose facade of the basilica is divided into three pillars reduced to simple pilasters of late Gothic style.
