Altidona characteristic medieval village.

Image
63824 Altidona, Province of Fermo, Italy. Altidona like many other small castles in the Marche, also Altidona stands on a narrow elongated hill and its urban development follows its reliefs. The result is that beyond the main street, there are only several alleys perpendicular to the main herringbone axis, which go right up to the circle of the walls offering squares and belvedere with views from the valleys to the sea. The history of Altidona starts in the distant lower Paleolithic, in the Roman period there were several patrician villas, then in the Middle Ages, the building took place and was linked to the events of Fermo, of which it became a second-degree castle. Altidona from the historic center lies in the countryside until it reaches the sea, where you can enjoy the beauty of a natural beach. Altidona is flanked by the Aso river that accompanies it to the sea, on this route we find a walk that immerses itself in a green natural environment. The park of the 'two bridges&…

Campofilone village

Image
The village, tapered in shape, stands along the main street in which the main buildings overlook, behind which there is a labyrinth of alleys, sometimes covered by barrel vaults and cross vaults and which, from time to time, reveal the beauty of the panorama that surrounds it: the calm Adriatic Sea, the gentle hills up to the whitewashed peaks of the Sibillini mountains.
Walking through the streets you can still smell the scent of the ancient culinary tradition: the Maccheroncini di Campofilone PGI have always been produced, a very fine gastronomic specialty, very thin threads of egg pasta known and appreciated all over the world. Petritoli and the gate of the village

The door, located next to the main entrance of the house, was distinguished not only by its small and narrow shape but also by its raised position with respect to the street level.

Grottammare Terraces of orange groves.

Image
In the historic center of the village of Grottammare, they were planted for the most part on terraces obtained, thanks to a meticulous grading work, on the steep slopes that slope towards the sea, using stones or bricks. The ancient orange groves are generally surrounded by walls, built for the dual purpose of protecting plants from the cold north-east winds.
The orange grove, in addition to the production purpose, also responded to a recreational function, constituting a precious garden and a refined park, enriched with fountains, avenues, busts, and connected to the noble residence. To complete the knowledge of the aspects related to this precious fruit, which has played an important role in the history and economy of Grottammare. italianlifestyle itravelinitaly.com | Travel is the traveler in Italy : italianlifestyle

Window on the village –

Image
Windows are the eyes of our houses,
life flows beyond the glass, the color of the sky changes
the sun enters, the air, the noises, we see who passes and who arrives, we meditate waiting for the moon ...

The window
The red rose slowly slips,
for an interminable instant, it is air,
then he rocks on his body,
dyeing it with its bright color.
The hand that left it is now resting on the glass,
streaked by rain and gaze,
under the forehead resting the tears, of love that cannot exist.
A short excerpt of poetry by De Bernardi Pompeo

Image
Photo was taken at Piazza Peretti in Grottammare Alta, the medieval village
It develops around Piazza Peretti which overlooks the church of San Giovanni Battista, the Palazzo Priorale, the Altana dell'Orologio, the Teatro dell'Arancio (XVIII century), the elegant loggia and the splendid belvedere. Not far away is the seventeenth-century church of Santa Lucia attributed to the architect Fontana and commissioned by Sixtus V. In the walk along the walls you can visit the restored Torrione della Battaglia (16th century), which houses the Torrione della Battaglia Museum inside, a large collection of works by the sculptor Pericle Fazzini. Village Borgo Marano Cupra Marittima

Image
Castrum Maranum, The old, medieval, incised Marano on the hill constitutes the main nucleus of the village, while it is in the second half of the nineteenth century that, further down, the seaside village takes shape; there are also archaeological sites that refer to the Piceny civilization (VIII-VII century BC) that the human settlements become more intense, as evidenced by the numerous necropolis in the Castelletta district, rich in grave goods. Defeated the Picenes (268 BC), Cupra Marittima became a Roman colony and the ager cuprensis was identified with the Regio V Picenum famous for the production of oil, olives and maritime trade with its large port located to the north of the current country. In this area there were warehouses, the moorings of ships and amphorae that were used for the transport of wheat and oil came to light. Italy: the most beautiful country in the world.
Italy: the most beautiful country in the world. We are in Italy and we know that we have one of the most visited countries in the world under our feet, a unique country, rich in history, culture, natural resources, and a consolidated artisan and gastronomic tradition. Yes an open-air museum, in every corner, in every street, in every small neighborhood hides a piece of history, tradition, and culture. If you can meet the expectations of tourists they will talk about it with relatives, friends, in blogs, share photos and comments on social media, encouraging you to visit the white beaches of Salento, to take a photo in front of the imposing Colosseum, to watch the view from a high altitude refuge in the Dolomites, to be lulled in the lagoon on a gondola in Venice, to taste a plate of freshly baked lasagna in a typical Emilian inn ... But there is more but much more. The Italian Small towns and Borghi villages that tourists should see, large and small, medieval and baroque, perched on high mountains or along coasts. The most beautiful villages along with the boot - worthy of being seen at least once in a lifetime - for the kitchen, the art, the landscape, the history . From Cornello dei Tasso, in the province of Bergamo, a medieval fairytale village where time seems to stand still in Scanno, in Abruzzo, a rural paradise . Up to Marettimo, in the Egadi, a refuge in all senses . Click here for a map.
