The Bridge of Sighs Venice, Il Ponte dei Sospiri Venezia, Piazza San Marco, 1, 30122 Venezia, Venice, VE, Italy. The fog had now risen, making the Bridge of Sighs even more mysterious. The Bridge of Sighs, is one of the most photographed magical places in Venice, every time I am in Venice I take more than one photo, from any angle the photo is magical. From the Bridge of Sighs, it emerges that the name, at the time of the Serenissima, would have been attributed to the fact that through the prisoners they sighed because they were aware of the fact that it would be the last time, before being imprisoned, that they would see the outside world. As far as the history of the Bridge of Sighs is concerned, this is a fanciful reconstruction since, in reality, the outside is not visible from the bridge.

I have most visited in my stays in Venice because it is a crossroads for every direction, but above all, if I walk by, I go to see it or rather admire it. Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari Venice. In this majestic Gothic church, with the bricks and the very tall bell tower, Titian's glories are celebrated for the marble monument: the Pesaro altarpiece and, on the Altar Maggiore, the Assumption. The two Madonnas are very different in light, colors, and structure of the paintings but they are all of the extraordinary beauty. Beyond Tiziano, there is also the beautiful wooden Choir preceded by a very fine marble enclosure, the mausoleum of Canova, medieval and Renaissance tombs in the apse chapel
s, a San Giovanni Battista by Donatello and a beautifu…

Fondamenta Gherardini - Calle de le Pazienze Venezia Stone bridge; brick and stone structure, brick balustrades. On one side of the bridge, in the center of the arch, there is a sculpture representing a Madonna and Child, on the other side, still in the center of the arch, traces of a chiseled Marcian lion. Rio de San Barnaba, in the Dorsoduro district, the long and straight rio is bordered by two fondamente on which overlook imposing buildings like Ca ’Rezzonico, Ca’ Contarini Michiel, Ca ’Soranzo. The Rio di San Barnaba is also famous for being crossed by the bridge of fists, on whose central pitch, during the carnival, the opposing factions of the Castellani and Nicolotti gave birth to the fight of fists. Nowadays, four footprints in white stone can be seen set in the corners of the pitch, indicating the posi…

Italy: the most beautiful country in the world.
Italy: the most beautiful country in the world. We are in Italy and we know that we have one of the most visited countries in the world under our feet, a unique country, rich in history, culture, natural resources, and a consolidated artisan and gastronomic tradition. Yes an open-air museum, in every corner, in every street, in every small neighborhood hides a piece of history, tradition, and culture. If you can meet the expectations of tourists they will talk about it with relatives, friends, in blogs, share photos and comments on social media, encouraging you to visit the white beaches of Salento, to take a photo in front of the imposing Colosseum, to watch the view from a high altitude refuge in the Dolomites, to be lulled in the lagoon on a gondola in Venice, to taste a plate of freshly baked lasagna in a typical Emilian inn ... But there is more but much more. The Italian Small towns and Borghi villages that tourists should see, large and small, medieval and baroque, perched on high mountains or along coasts. The most beautiful villages along with the boot - worthy of being seen at least once in a lifetime - for the kitchen, the art, the landscape, the history . From Cornello dei Tasso, in the province of Bergamo, a medieval fairytale village where time seems to stand still in Scanno, in Abruzzo, a rural paradise . Up to Marettimo, in the Egadi, a refuge in all senses . Click here for a map.
