... We are in Italy  and we know that we have one of the most visited countries in the world under our feet, a  unique country , rich in  history, culture, natural resources , and a consolidated  artisan and gastronomic tradition . Yes an  open-air museum , in every corner, in every street, in every small neighborhood hides a  piece of history, tradition, and culture . If you can meet the expectations of tourists they will talk about it with relatives, friends, in blogs, share photos and comments on social media, encouraging you to visit the  white beaches  of Salento, to take a photo in front of the imposing  Colosseum , to watch the view from a high altitude refuge in the  Dolomites , to be lulled in the lagoon on a  gondola in Venice , to  taste a plate  of freshly baked lasagna in a typical Emilian inn ... But there is more but much more. The Italian  Small towns  and  "Borghi" villages  that tourists should see, large and small,  medieval and baroque , perched o

Summer, soon I'll dive into the seafoam.

Image
Summer Marine foam. Endless ribbons of seafoam twist along the shore left by the waves, waves have drawn into the sea. Many waves, their numbers will never be known. With a walk, I trace their path on the edge of the water. Even if the path I have traveled leads nowhere, it still gives me direction. My body follows my eyes, my eyes follow the foam, the infinite twisted foam. Reassuring, frightening, peaceful, stormy, disturbing, dark, romantic. The sea, for each of us, can represent many things, remember many moments, arouse many sensations. There are those who fear it, those who love to look at it, those who approach it timidly, those who cannot stay away from it. And you, what relationship do you have with the sea? Do you have  a review, a comment, a question, or a suggestion?   Look at the bottom  left and fill in the form below with  your feedback  ...  I travel to Italy and you?  Last shots and stories for index,  continue here . GROTTAMMARE BORGO THE CHURCH OF SANT'AGOSTINO

Image
The church is an excellent example of the sober and essential architecture that characterizes most of the local buildings, even the most relevant ones. The facade is linear, devoid of any decorative element. At the top, above the entrance portal, there are some majolica basins arranged in the shape of a cross, according to Augustinian use, unfortunately very ruined. The facade is concluded by a simple gable roof. The apse of the church, oriented towards the sea, has a fortified aspect, as frequently happens in ancient local churches which also constituted a garrison against enemy incursions: it is embattled and crossed externally by two buttresses. Next to the apse is the severed bell tower which, according to tradition, was reduced in this way because the Augustinian monk Martin Luther was hosted in the convent during his journey to Rome before the great schism. The church has a longitudinal plan, with a single covered nave with a gable roof and wooden trusses. The church has thr

Capri landscape

Image
Capri is vertical - it's all about going up with your gaze and looking down. And always find blue, even if it is not the same blue, never. And always find transparencies, which are not the same transparencies, never. Sky and sea are reflected, the color always steals each other above one another, but their reflections do not resemble each other. Never. The Messenger of Nature –

Image
The stop of time. Sometimes it has happened to everyone to feel as if out of time, absent for a moment from the world and from themselves. A condition not only physical but, also and above all, metaphysics. Everything we know, see, hear, believe we know, see and hear no longer exists. Montegranaro The Messenger of Nature Photo and Copyright By Giulia Baldassarri Travel is the traveler in Italy itravelinitaly.com Still Morning It appears now that there is only one age and it knows nothing of age as the flying birds know nothing of the air they are flying through or of the day that bears them up through themselves and I am a child before there are words arms are holding me up in a shadow voices murmur in a shadow as I watch one patch of sunlight moving across the green carpet in a building gone long ago and all the voices silent and each word they said in that time silent now while I go on seeing that patch of sunlight. Civic Tower of Petritoli –

Image
The tower consists of five different bases: square, rectangular, octagonal, circular and spherical. the five represents the human microcosm, it is man's desire to draw close to God. The square indicates the man anchored to the earth and encourages him to stop to reflect. The rectangle expresses the desire to establish a relationship between Earth and Heaven. The octagon is a symbol of resurrection, it is the mediation between Earth and Heaven. The dome represents the celestial vault. The sphere is perfection but placed on the circle which in turn rests on an octagonal base, represents the Incarnation of the divine and human nature of the One who will act as a bridge to bring us closer to the great architect, that is God. Last Judgment – Il Giudizio Universale –

Image
The sense of beauty and the spirit that enlivens every place inhabited by man as guides for a fuller and more meaningful existence. Places have a soul. Our job is to find out. Exactly as it happens for the human person. ” (James Hillman)” At the time of the Roman Empire, the soul of places was called the Genius Loci . The Genius Loci was linked to the territory, to the city, or even to a grove or spring. In the modern world, the genius loci is that quality, that indefinable but very clear spirit that distinguishes a place. It is a set of conditions, traditions, cultures, skills that are handed down from father to son and that constitute the identity of a place, even when they spread throughout the world. Northern Italy. The northern regions of Italy are full of spectacular mountain landscapes, while other areas, especially on the east coast, are flat at the entrance to the Adriatic Sea.

Southern Italy it is the heat of the sun and the color of the landscapes, Italy in its most ancient form, full of feeling and sensual. Down here, the ruins are older, the longest lunches and the wildest and most intense landscapes.
