The sea in the Marche is truly fascinating

Image
Imagine being at the sea: in the cold season, the silence is interrupted only by the relaxing breaking of the waves and, at first, the empty beaches seem unusual, compared to how we are used to seeing them in summer.  To be enchanted, however, just stop for a moment and immerse yourself in the almost suspended and poetic atmosphere.  We believe that, in this period, the sea in the Marche is truly fascinating.

Offida alleys and streets

Image
Tourists from all over the world come to visit the villages of the country to discover characteristic streets and alleys that offer unique views in the world, characterized by small and narrow picturesque, cobbled and stone streets that often climb towards hills and panoramic places that overlook  on breathtaking views.  Getting lost in the alleys and streets of Italian villages is one of the best ways to get to know local villages and popular traditions among typical restaurants, trattorias and workshops of artisans and artists.

Offida Bastioni

Image
Among the fortifications commissioned by Pope Innocent VIII towards the end of the 15th century, in order to give solidity to papal power, the Rocca di Offida was commissioned to the Florentine architect Baccio Pontelli, his relative, who already boasted the designs of several fortresses in the brand,  as in Osimo and Jesi.  The project was carried out by Comancine workers and included, in addition to the construction of the fortress, also the restoration of the previous fortifications.  The arilleries were commissioned in 1492, and after the fortress lost its importance, they were brought to Loreto for the defense of the Holy House, where they are still preserved.  With a vaguely pentagonal plan, visible in an illustration from the end of the seventeenth century, it is characterized by two cylindrical towers, the largest of which was probably the keep, and by a square tower that protrudes slightly from the wall line.  In ancient times it was also surrounded by a moat fille

Offida The Square

Image
The square was born, in Italy, at the dawn of the Middle Ages or as a churchyard of the Cathedral or as a large square in front of the seat of the civil authority.  Hence two types of square, one of a religious nature, the other of a civil, and secondarily commercial character. The two types can merge, as in Ferrara, for example, in the arcades on the side of the Cathedral, but a gap always remains at the base, and determines different characteristics for urban planning and architectural arrangement. Finally, a third type arises, the market square, whether it is for herbs or in any case of the itinerant market and this type will also be qualified in a particular way;  depending on the regions. #piazza #italy #italia #ig #architecture #travel #square #roma #art #ba #city #photography #kahramanmara #rome #travelphotography #photooftheday #e #milano #picoftheday #love #sicily #instagood #cerronegro #europe #photo #k #like #scop #eras #likeitaly

Offida Inside the church

Image
Inside the church there is the "Bara" (this is commonly called the chariot with canopy where the statue of the Dead Christ is placed) which is triumphantly carried in procession on the evening of Good Friday. The procession is to be consideredy linked to a tradition of the ancient medieval brotherhoods. The current "Bara" made its first appearance in the Good Friday procession of 1870 and replaced the old hand litter in operation since 1819.  Names of Jesus and Mary, in 1868, they had entrusted to prof.  Alcide Allevi the task of drafting the project and Mr.  Lorenzo Mancini of Ascoli Piceno to take care of the decorations.  For the execution of the silver embroidery there was a real competition between the young women of Offida, as handed down by our ancestors, who, under the guidance of Mrs. Aloisa Donati, helped the Benedictine nuns in the delicate task. #church #livinghistory #nature #larping #medievalhistory #medievalarchitecture #medioevo #castl

Offida Piazza del Popolo

Image
Say Offida So in 1820, based on the architect's project, the construction of the theater began in the vicinity of the "tramontana" courtyard of the Town Hall.  The current Teatro Serpente Aureo, modernized in 1862, is a real jewel of a baroque conception of the proscenium type or, as is commonly said, (in Italian), with a "horseshoe" pattern. It does not have its own facade and the entrance is located under the portico of the Town Hall.  Through an atrium adorned with statues representing four Muses, you enter the hall formed by 50 boxes around three orders with gallery and stalls. ig_italia #volgoitalia #italy #igersitalia #travelphotography #natgeo #yallersitalia #bnw_marche #united #pics #cartoline #marche #clickfor #landscapephotography #captures #italiainunoscatto #photogroup #landscape #lonleyplanet #likeitaly #photo #new #youshotphotographer # natgeoyourshot   #travel #bnw #nature #volgomarche #roaditalia #roadtomarche @roadtoialia @road

The Collegiate church stands on the spot where the Oratory of the Trinity (13th century) was located, as reported by Allevi in "A zonzo per Offida" and by Arduini in "Memorie Historiche of the city of Offida". The Oratory, with its statues and paintings, was demolished at the end of the century  XVIII and in its place the new Collegiate Church was built, consecrated to Maria Assunta in heaven.
