Rome; Happy birthday for the 2773 years.

Image
Rome Today, April 21, we are celebrating 2,773 years since the foundation of our city. The Eternal City, the capital of the Italians.
Colosseo, Piazza del Colosseo, 1, 00184, Roma RM, Italy. The COLOSSEUM the most famous monument in the world. With its height of 48 meters (157 feet), the colossal elliptical structure has fascinated humans throughout history. Construction of the Colosseum was begun under Vespasian as a symbol of the grandeur of the Roman Empire. It was inaugurated by Emperor Titus in the year 80 AD. The popular name of "Colosseum" is due to a statue ("colosso") of Nero once situated next to the arena. The original name of this ancient Roman sports arena, the largest arena of its kind, is the Amphitheatrum Flavium.

Petritoli Porta Petrania

Image
Petritoli leads to the town through a door composed of three Gothic arches enclosed between two cylindrical towers of the fifteenth century. It was obtained from the demolition of the ancient Petrania gate. Of the ancient access doors, there is also the backward arch in Largo Tre Archi and the fifteenth-century door at the beginning of the Borgo Vecchio, where there are buildings with arched portals, fourteenth-century terracotta or terracotta frames, as well as fortifications Gothic (14th-15th centuries). Along via del Teatro, Via dei Muraglioni and along the road called Sotto le Ripe there are still large portions of the defense walls, built in the fifteenth century and reconsolidated over time.

Grottammare: The Torrione della Battaglia dates back to the mid-sixteenth century and is inserted in the walls built when, after the invasion and sacking of the pirates of Ulcinj, in 1525, the old walls were strengthened by a new fortified wall. Cupra Marittima Village Borgo Marano

Image
Castrum Maranum, The old, medieval, incised Marano on the hill constitutes the main nucleus of the village, while it is in the second half of the nineteenth century that, further down, the seaside village takes shape; there are also archaeological sites that refer to the Piceny civilization (VIII-VII century BC) that the human settlements become more intense, as evidenced by the numerous necropolis in the Castelletta district, rich in grave goods. Defeated the Picenes (268 BC), Cupra Marittima became a Roman colony and the ager cuprensis was identified with the Regio V Picenum famous for the production of oil, olives and maritime trade with its large port located to the north of the current country. In this area there were warehouses, the moorings of ships and amphorae that were used for the transport of wheat and oil came to light. With the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the barbarians broke out: Cupra was sacked many times and underwent the domination of Byzantines, Longobards, a…

Grottammare the cropped bell tower

Image
In the Church of Sant 'Agostino the apse of the church, oriented towards the sea, has a fortified appearance, as frequently happens in the ancient local churches which also constituted a garrison against enemy incursions: it is embattled and crossed externally by two buttresses. Next to the apse, there is a cropped bell tower which, according to tradition, was reduced in this way because the Augustinian monk Martin Luther was hosted in the convent during his journey to Rome before the great schism. The church has a longitudinal plan, with a single covered nave with a gable roof and wooden trusses. The church has three altars, but from some documents relating to pastoral visits, it is deduced that the church had ten altars in the seventeenth century.

Lifestyles

Lifestyles. What is the Italian style made of? High fashion and design, good food and, in general, the “dolce vita”: uniting all this, after all, is particular attention to detail.
From coffee at the bar in the morning to the elegant lines of an Italian desk lamp, every detail - is taken care of in the right times and ways - can become a little pleasure or a piece of art.
Everything in life should be a bit like that: beautiful to look at, easy to use, wonderful to live.

Italy: the most beautiful country in the world.
Italy: the most beautiful country in the world. We are in Italy and we know that we have one of the most visited countries in the world under our feet, a unique country, rich in history, culture, natural resources, and a consolidated artisan and gastronomic tradition. Yes an open-air museum, in every corner, in every street, in every small neighborhood hides a piece of history, tradition, and culture. If you can meet the expectations of tourists they will talk about it with relatives, friends, in blogs, share photos and comments on social media, encouraging you to visit the white beaches of Salento, to take a photo in front of the imposing Colosseum, to watch the view from a high altitude refuge in the Dolomites, to be lulled in the lagoon on a gondola in Venice, to taste a plate of freshly baked lasagna in a typical Emilian inn ... But there is more but much more. The Italian Small towns and Borghi villages that tourists should see, large and small, medieval and baroque, perched on high mountains or along coasts. The most beautiful villages along with the boot - worthy of being seen at least once in a lifetime - for the kitchen, the art, the landscape, the history . From Cornello dei Tasso, in the province of Bergamo, a medieval fairytale village where time seems to stand still in Scanno, in Abruzzo, a rural paradise . Up to Marettimo, in the Egadi, a refuge in all senses . Click here for a map.
