Those blue mountains

Image
Those blue mountains. Of that distant sea, those blue mountains, which I discover from here, and which to cross one day. I thought, arcane worlds, arcana. Happiness pretending to my life! Ipse Dixit Giacomo Leopardi.
Recanati Town in Italy. Recanati is a town and comune in the Province of Macerata, in the Marche region of Italy. Recanati is an immense natural balcony, located on a typically Marche hill.

A balcony from which you can look out for kilometers, admiring on one side the distant shape of Monte Conero that dominates the Adriatic coast, or, turning your head, get lost in the splendid and characteristic Marche countryside, with sweet and harmoniously colored shapes from light-dark brown mixed with the green of trees and crops along the fields. A harmony that spreads deep and that really gives the sense of infinity to the look. And stopping on some of the railings placed on this walk around the walls gives the sensation of getting lost in this immensity and, as Leopardi wrote, d…

Petrtoli and the Three Arches

Image
Largo Giacomo Leopardi, 5, 63848 Petritoli FM, Italy. Ancient Petrania gate built in the first half of the fifteenth century with the aim of reinforcing the slightly more backward fourteenth-century gate. The new door, part of a quadrilateral, was equipped with a drawbridge, had only one entrance and the wall was set between two cylindrical towers All four sides were equipped with battlements both inside and outside. The Three Arches were built in 1872 to "give light and air" to the internal square by breaking down the original wall. Made in neo-Gothic style, the Three Arches have a purely decorative function and the number three is not accidental. From the outside of the Three Arches, you can see all three "Petrania" doors that have followed one another over the centuries. The first, at the top right, above the Mannocchi palace, was built around the mid-twelfth century, the second, to the left of the same palace, in the fourteenth century and the third ... the Thr…

Vitali Palace in Petritoli

Image
63848 Petritoli, Province of Fermo, FM, The Marches, Italy.Vitali Palace in Petritoli at the end of the main street of Petritoli is the nineteenth-century palazzo in the flowery Gothic-Venetian style. The style follows the decorative of the mullioned windows and summit pinnacles, typical of the lagoon city. Inside there are fine neo-classical frescoed ceilings, while outside there is a fine example of a 14th-century Gothic brick arch. Petritoli is a hilly municipality in the province of Fermo that dominates the green and fertile Aso valley, of which it represents an important economic center for the rich land of olive trees, mulberry trees and hills. It offers a vast and splendid view that sweeps from the Sibillini Mountains to the Adriatic coast. Originally named, dating back to the year 1000, Rodolfo Castle was born from the merger of three castles: Petrosa, Petrania, and Petrollavia.
