Fantastic canals and sinuous canals of magical Venice.
@itravelinitaly_com Large and important, such as the Giudecca Canal, the Grand Canal and the Cannaregio Canal. All the others
waterways are called rio; sometimes they take the diminutive of "riello" or even of "rio menuo" (rio minute).
The canals are generally very narrow and often sinuous channels, given their fluvial derivation, and it is for this reason that the shape of Venice has been conditioned in its development from the beginning, and this for construction reasons.
In fact, all the buildings in Venice are placed directly or through piles on a particularly resistant layer formed of compressed clay and sand called “caranto”, which is located a few meters deep.
