The historic center of Moresco has the structure of the ancient castle it was; triangular in shape, completely surrounded by walls with the imposing 12th century Heptagonal Tower at the top. Summer, soon I'll dive into the seafoam.

Image
Marine foam. Endless ribbons of seafoam twist along the shore left by the waves, waves have drawn into the sea. Many waves, their numbers will never be known. With a walk, I trace their path on the edge of the water. Even if the path I have traveled leads nowhere, it still gives me direction. My body follows my eyes, my eyes follow the foam, the infinite twisted foam. Reassuring, frightening, peaceful, stormy, disturbing, dark, romantic. The sea, for each of us, can represent many things, remember many moments, arouse many sensations. There are those who fear it, those who love to look at it, those who approach it timidly, those who cannot stay away from it. And you, what relationship do you have with the sea?

Venezia Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa

Image
The Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, Sestriere San Polo, 3072, 30125 Venice VE, Italy. Usually just called the Frari, is a church located in the Campo dei Frari at the heart of the San Polo district of Venice, Italy. One of the most prominent churches in the city, it has the status of a minor basilica. The church is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The basilica, with a Latin cross, is a classic example of the Gothic style, which we could define as "Franciscan" because, avoiding the glitz of spiers, pinnacles and flying buttresses, it emphasizes the harmony, beauty and simplicity of the lines. The grandiose facade of the basilica is divided into three pillars reduced to simple pilasters of late Gothic style. In the central part above the portal at the top of the pointed arch, stands the risen Christ of Alexander Victoria (1581), while, on the left, stands the Virgin with the Child and, on the right, S. Francesco, statues of Bartolomeo Bon (shortly after 1430).…

Lapedona a fascinating stone labyrinth.

The medieval farmhouses and residences give the village a special charm. Paved streets, surrounded by high stone walls.

Valdaso The Aso Valley.

63827 Valdaso, Province of Fermo, Italy. The Aso Valley, a magnificent area consisting of countless plots of the forest, orchards, vineyards, vegetable gardens, arable land; a high level of livability for the almost total absence of pollutants. The river from which it takes its name, from the Latin Asis, was born in Montemonaco, between Monte Porche and Cima del Prata, winding along the valley for a length of 63 km, then flows into the Adriatic Sea at the height of the municipality of Pedaso.

Loreto Patrol walkways Camminamenti di ronda

Image
Camminamenti di ronda a Loreto,  60025, Loreto, AN, Province of Ancona, Italy. . The basilica of Loreto is fortified in the upper part with a walkway and stone corbels, which support them also with a decorative function; on behalf of Cardinal Girolamo Basso della Rovere the construction was started by Giuliano da Maiano and subsequently modified and completed by Baccio Pontelli in a typically Renaissance style.

The walkways are covered and protruding corridors with a continuous series of vaulted windows around the upper part of the basilica, to allow easy defense in case of attacks - as had already happened by the Turks in a bloody way in Otranto in 1480; the year before in nearby Grottammare and in 1518 in Porto Recanati; the latter attack which caused an order by Pope Leo X for a further fortification of Loreto, which fortunately was never attacked. In the upper internal part of the building and behind the walkways, there are the rooms that were once used as accommodation for the gua…

Lapedona gate of the sun.

Image
63823 Lapedona, Province of Fermo, Italy. Lapedona gate of the sun. It stands at the end of a narrow and winding ramp that climbs, outside the walls, from the base of the town hall to the arcades, which open onto the main square of the village. A square tower, probably higher and equipped with protruding defenses, controlled the steep passage making it difficult to conquer, probably helped by other defensive works located opposite the door. Through a small door, you can access the casemate above the vault, where the defenders took their places. Over time, the door has been incorporated into the town hall and it is possible to recognize walled slits on one of the walls.

Valle d’Aosta Vallée d'Aoste is region in northwestern Italy; its capital Aosta.

Image
Valle d’Aosta is a region of northwest Italy bordered by France and Switzerland. Lying in the Western Alps, it's known for the iconic, snow-capped peaks the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso. Major ski resorts include Courmayeur and Cervinia. The region’s countryside is dotted with medieval castles and fortresses, such as the 14th-century Castello Fénis and Castello di Verrès. Valle d'Aosta is the smallest Italian region and is located in the middle of the Alps, which are divided here into the sectors of the Graian Alps and the Pennine Alps. It is surrounded by the four highest mountain ranges in Italy: Mont Blanc, which with 4,810.02 m [12] is the highest mountain in Europe, Matterhorn (4,478 m), Monte Rosa (4,637 m) and Gran Paradiso (4,061 m). The conformation of the entire regional territory is the result of the work of the glaciations, which dug the main valley and the other lateral valleys. Glaciers now occupy only the highest peaks. Valley glaciers ar…

Trentino Alto Adige Trentino-South Tyrol is a region of northeast Italy; its capital is Triento..

Image
Trentino Alto Adige, Italy The most striking natural feature has to be the Dolomites, the very essence of the region. The Dolomites are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and offer an unforgettable experience for ski and winter sports lovers. Moreover, this region is the keeper of incredible artistic treasures, monuments, and architectural works that combine Gothic from Austria with that of the Italian Renaissance. The route to discover this region starts in Trento, known as the meeting place of the Ecumenical Council (1545-1563); the city boasts a Lombard Romanesque cathedral and the Buonconsiglio Castle. The second stop is Bolzano, the “Gateway to the Dolomites” and symbol of the fusion of Latin and Germanic cultures, as can be seen in the Gothic cathedral. Other important places are Rovereto, with its museums, castles, the St. Colombiano Hermitage, the great “bell of peace” and the MART Museum, the new modern art hub, and Riva del Garda, with the Pretorio Palace and its auster…

Toscana Tuscany is a region in central Italy. Its capital, Florence itravelinitaly.com | Travel and travelers in Italy discovering the soul of places.: Tuscany is a region in central Italy. Its capital, Florence

Image
Tuscany is a region in central Italy. Its landscape, artistic heritage and stand-out cities - first among them Florence - make Tuscany an unquestioned protagonist of international tourism. In this region, nature has many different facets, starting from the coast that alternates long and sandy beaches, like the Versilia beach, with rocky cliffs and steep headlands. The islands of the Tuscan Archipelago, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, a crystal-clear sea, and rich seabeds, are peerless. You can admire sceneries of uncontaminated nature in the Apuan Alps and in several protected areas, such as the Orbetello Lagoon, home to many species of migrant birds, including pink egrets. However, the most typical sceneries of the region are those that merge the beauty of nature with the millenary work of man. The amazing Gulf of Baratti and the sites of Vetulonia, Vulci, and Pitigliano guard necropolis and vestiges of the Etruscan civilization, while Roselle and Cosa evoke memories from the…

Altidona from the waters of the Sibillini mountains, up to the Adriatic Sea.

The vast territory that opens, in the center of Fermano, along the course of the Aso river, from the sources in the heart of the Sibillini mountains, to the beaches overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The landscape is particularly varied, articulated and never the same. A vast range of reliefs rises from the sea, as far as the eye can see, to reach the mountains in a succession of cultivated hills dotted with woods and small inhabited centers on which towers and bell towers stand out.

Altidona characteristic medieval village.

Image
63824 Altidona, Province of Fermo, Italy. Altidona like many other small castles in the Marche, also Altidona stands on a narrow elongated hill and its urban development follows its reliefs. The result is that beyond the main street, there are only several alleys perpendicular to the main herringbone axis, which go right up to the circle of the walls offering squares and belvedere with views from the valleys to the sea. The history of Altidona starts in the distant lower Paleolithic, in the Roman period there were several patrician villas, then in the Middle Ages, the building took place and was linked to the events of Fermo, of which it became a second-degree castle. Altidona from the historic center lies in the countryside until it reaches the sea, where you can enjoy the beauty of a natural beach. Altidona is flanked by the Aso river that accompanies it to the sea, on this route we find a walk that immerses itself in a green natural environment. The park of the 'two bridges&…

Rome; Happy birthday for the 2773 years.

Image
Rome Today, April 21, we are celebrating 2,773 years since the foundation of our city. The Eternal City, the capital of the Italians.
Colosseo, Piazza del Colosseo, 1, 00184, Roma RM, Italy. The COLOSSEUM the most famous monument in the world. With its height of 48 meters (157 feet), the colossal elliptical structure has fascinated humans throughout history. Construction of the Colosseum was begun under Vespasian as a symbol of the grandeur of the Roman Empire. It was inaugurated by Emperor Titus in the year 80 AD. The popular name of "Colosseum" is due to a statue ("colosso") of Nero once situated next to the arena. The original name of this ancient Roman sports arena, the largest arena of its kind, is the Amphitheatrum Flavium.

Lungomare dei cantautori del XX secolo Pedaso, 63827 Pedaso, Province of Fermo, Italy. Walking along the "20th century singer-songwriter's promenade", it is possible to walk along the beach for about two kilometers on a path accessible by underpasses dedicated to songwriters of our time: Fabrizio De Andrè, Giorgio Gaber, Luigi Tenco, Pierangelo Bertoli; Domenico Modugno, Sergio Endrigo, Lucio Battisti. The small port, built near the mouth of the Aso river, is a dock for small fishing operators and pleasure boats, it is also a small market where you can buy fresh fish every morning. Near the sea, the public gardens with the scent of flowers, the green of the meadows and the fragrance of the essences are the ideal place to rest your soul and body.

Italy: the most beautiful country in the world.
Italy: the most beautiful country in the world. We are in Italy and we know that we have one of the most visited countries in the world under our feet, a unique country, rich in history, culture, natural resources, and a consolidated artisan and gastronomic tradition. Yes an open-air museum, in every corner, in every street, in every small neighborhood hides a piece of history, tradition, and culture. If you can meet the expectations of tourists they will talk about it with relatives, friends, in blogs, share photos and comments on social media, encouraging you to visit the white beaches of Salento, to take a photo in front of the imposing Colosseum, to watch the view from a high altitude refuge in the Dolomites, to be lulled in the lagoon on a gondola in Venice, to taste a plate of freshly baked lasagna in a typical Emilian inn ... But there is more but much more. The Italian Small towns and Borghi villages that tourists should see, large and small, medieval and baroque, perched on high mountains or along coasts. The most beautiful villages along with the boot - worthy of being seen at least once in a lifetime - for the kitchen, the art, the landscape, the history . From Cornello dei Tasso, in the province of Bergamo, a medieval fairytale village where time seems to stand still in Scanno, in Abruzzo, a rural paradise . Up to Marettimo, in the Egadi, a refuge in all senses . Click here for a map.
